On November 13, 2024, Samahram Bilingual School – hosted Dr Muawya A. Hussein, Assistant Professor at CCBA to deliver a lecture on “Environment and Climate Change” for Grade 11 and 12 students. The lecture focuses on the pressing issues of climate change and environmental sustainability. This lecture was part of CCBA’s ongoing commitment to community service and maintaining the environment, aimed at raising awareness on climate change, its global impacts, and the urgent need for collective action to mitigate its effects.
The session began with an introduction to the concept of climate change, explaining how long-term shifts in global weather patterns are affecting ecosystems and human life. The presentation covered key aspects of climate change, including the rising global temperatures, which contribute to extreme summer heat and reduced outdoor comfort. Changing rainfall patterns were also discussed, with some regions experiencing severe flooding due to heavy rainfall, while others are grappling with prolonged droughts. Additionally, the growing frequency and intensity of storms—such as hurricanes and tornadoes—were highlighted as significant threats to both lives and infrastructure.
