Under the patronage of H.E. Wali of Salalah: Students of the College of Engineering at theEntrepreneurship Center win first and fourth places in the Environmental Hackathon in Middle East.
On 1 August and under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Saif Al Busaidi, Wali of Salalah, (75) innovative projects from several Arab countries participated in the Talenco Environmental Hackathon. In addition to the Sultanate of Oman, Egypt, Iraq, the Emirates, and Algeria also participated, of which (40) projects qualified to enter the final competition, noting that (17) projects were selected to be displayed in the exhibition of innovative projects in the environmental field accompanying the event.
Eng. Ahmed bin Saeed Al Ghafri, CEO of Talenco Global Talents and Innovations, explained that Talenco’s Environmental Hackathon (Youth Ecothon 2024) aimed to highlight innovators in the environmental field of the people of the Sultanate of Oman and those present on its land, and give them the opportunity to develop their projects through the support provided to them and consultations from specialists in the field of the environment since the beginning of their participation in the hackathon and their reaching the final stages and their qualification. The hackathon also aimed to create a supportive environment for innovators’ projects by providing them with specialized workshops by experts from the STEMA Training and Development Center (Science S, Technology T, Engineering E, Mathematics M, and Arts A), which were entitled: Food Preservation Techniques aimed to prepare qualified trainers in this field.
At the end of the ceremony, the winning centers were announced and honored by Talents and Innovations Company; Rebactus Company won first place from Dhofar University in the level of innovative projects submitted, followed by the BioPlastic project from the same university in the hackathon in fourth place.
