CCBA student, Muna Al Amri, wins the first position in OQBi Hackathon

During 21-22 September, and as part of a group of enthusiastic and distinguished students at the college, Mona Al Amri’s team won first place in the OQ Hackathon, where the team developed an advanced operations management system to monitor and predict corrosion in gas pipelines using smart solutions such as artificial intelligence and machine learning, all within 48 hours.

“Our solution was to create an operations management prediction system that uses artificial intelligence and machine learning to generate a mathematical equation that predicts corrosion. This innovation will significantly reduce the cost of stopping operations for manual inspections, making the process more efficient and less disruptive. I was proud to represent the College of Commerce, Dhofar University, in the competition. This achievement reflects our team’s dedication to addressing critical challenges in the energy sector, while continuing to improve our work to make a tangible impact in the workplace,” said Mona.

It is also worth noting that Mona Al Amri is one of the distinguished students at the college, who recently successfully completed an internship program at Al-Ezz Islamic Bank in Muscat.
